Lake Erie, June 11th, Leamington to Pelee. Worked the east shore of Pelee on waypoints from Stormsearch (Tony Hartman) running 3-4 oz BB with crawler harness15-20ft down, 1.5-1.8 mph. Best day in while with my son and I, figured we landed over 60 walleye in 4 hours. Smallest 4 lb's, largest 8lbs. Tom O'Harris
Lake Erie Wednesday, June25th, On the Redneck, Fished from Stoney Point out to Sputnik between 8am-2pm. Started with mini discs and spoons, running confusion, shrimp, lady bug, and kervorkians with little luck other than sheephead at various depths and speeds. Switched to 3 oz BB around 12 noon 20ft down to bumping bottom when we strated to pick a few up on purple & purple/chartreuse harnesses. Landed 6 walleye 4 were keepers 2-3lb range, and 2 were 6", 2007 year class walleye. A good sign to see little ones being caught again. Fish flies are making it tough. John N
Lake Erie Thursday, June26th, On the Redneck, Fished straight out the Raisan river channel in 25 ft, then moved up by Stoney Point NW out to the channel bouy north of Sputnik between 8am-2pm with Raffle winner Tom Curtis and his friend Bob Linkewicz and his son. Started with mini discs and spoons, running confusion, shrimp, lady bug, and kervorkians with little luck other than sheephead at various depths and speeds. Switched to 3 oz BB around 11 noon 20ft down to bumping bottom when we started to pick a few up on purple & purple/chartreuse harnesses. Landed 4 walleye keeper 2-4lb range. A good sign to see little ones being caught again. Fish flies are making it tough, probably better afternoon to evening bite right now. Lake Erie, July 19th-20th Erieau, Ont.
Out on the Redneck - Saturday, 9am-3pm, landed 12 steelhead (lost 7) up
to 9 #, and 5 walleye 5.5#-8 #. Trolled from 6 miles out of Erieau on a
240 heading to the windmills and back, 55ft-65ft water depth best. All
fish on 2 3./4” spoons Jerry Lee, Monkey Puke, and copper backed
Watermelon. Riggers, 25-45 down, 25-50ft back, w sliders. Full size
dipseys, 3 setting, 80-160ft back, and half cores, speed per GPS
2.8-3.2.
Sunday, same area and setups, landed
13 steelhead up to 9 # (lost 10), 1 king 8 # and 5 walleye 3-8#. All in
all a pretty good weekend as the weather cooperated. Caught all but one
walleye on the Monkey Puke spoons (not copper backed).
Penny Pincher, ShellBell, and the Bouy Scout from the club were all out the same time, similar success. Steve Gardiner weighed in a 9+lb 29" walleye Saturday at Barney's.
Baydawg landed a
40 inch long, 20.5 lb King weighed in at
Barneys Saturday caught out near the windmills on a 4 color rig copper
watermelon spoon.
